Materials & sustainability
Why a Valcucine kitchen uses less of the planet, breathes cleaner, and gives more back.
"I think of glass as a magical material that has been shrouded in mystery since it was first discovered three thousand years ago. Eco-sustainable and resistant, glass reflects the philosophy behind my approach to design."Gabriele Centazzo, designer of Valcucine

Vitrum, the glass kitchen
Valcucine was the first company to bring glass into kitchen furniture. Expressive, precious, hygienic and colour-fast, Vitrum glass turned the kitchen door into a canvas, glossy or matt, in any colour, even hand-decorated in the Vitrum Arte ateliers.
Around it sits one of the widest material libraries in the industry, worked by Italian artisans down to inlay and carving.
Dematerialisation, then circularity
Valcucine was the first company in the world to fully rethink every structural part of a kitchen, door, top and carcass, under one principle: use less raw material and less energy, and design every part to come apart again.
The special elements
Valcucine's patents live between the cabinets: the pieces that make the kitchen open, lift, hide and respond.
Ergonomics you can feel
Decades of studies on how people actually use kitchens shaped rules the industry later followed.
Everything within reach
The equipped back section keeps tools between hand and eye height while cooking; deep jumbo drawers replace bending and rummaging at floor level.
Doors that get out of the way
Lift-up and lift-up-and-over openings free the workspace; nothing swings into your face or your path.
Light where you work
Luminous panels built into special units bring daylight-like clarity to the worktop and an airy feel to the whole composition.
Safe by geometry
Rounded edges and profiles across collections, certified since the first GS safety award in 1995.
Healthy by test
Continuous testing for harmful volatile substances, checks on artificial radioactivity, and the strictest formaldehyde emission standards.
Certified, audited, planted
In 1998 Valcucine founded Bioforest, an association that finances reforestation of destroyed or degraded ecosystems in Italy and abroad, including the Otonga rainforest project in Ecuador, and supports scientific research on biodiversity.
