Air purifiers in Lebanon: how to choose (2026 guide)
The air in a Lebanese home is not the air the purifier was designed for in a laboratory. It carries diesel exhaust from the generator two floors down, dust from the construction site across the street, sand on the wind in spring, smoke from the hills in autumn, and in winter the damp that turns a north-facing bedroom wall black. Windows stay open eight months a year because the power cuts take the air conditioning with them. An air purifier here is not a wellness gadget. It is the only filter between the street and a child's bedroom. This guide tells you how to size one, what the two numbers on the box mean, and which Levoit model fits which room. Wakim Group is the official Levoit range in Lebanon, delivered and supported from Beirut, with every filter in stock.

1. Two numbers decide everything: CADR and room size
CADR is the clean air delivery rate, the volume of clean air the purifier puts out per hour, in cubic metres. Room size on the box is the area the purifier can clean twice an hour, which is the rate that keeps a room steady against open windows and a generator outside. Buy by those two numbers and nothing else. A purifier for 54 m2 in a 54 m2 open-plan living room is correct; the same purifier in a 90 m2 space runs flat out, loud, and still loses. Undersize and you own a fan with a filter. The honest rule for Lebanon: take the room size on the box as the maximum, and in a room where the windows are open all day, step one model up.
2. What HEPA means, and what the carbon layer is for
A HEPA filter captures 99.97 percent of particles at 0.3 microns, the size that goes deepest into the lungs; the Levoit Sprout and Vital 100S are rated down to 0.1 microns and the Sprout to 99.9 percent at 0.01 microns. That is the dust, the pollen, the pet dander and the fine ash. Diesel exhaust and smoke are also a gas, and a gas passes through HEPA. That is what the activated carbon layer is for: it holds the fumes, the burnt smell after a generator night and the cooking smoke from an open kitchen. Every Levoit filter is three stages, pre-filter, HEPA and carbon, which in Beirut is the minimum. For a street-facing flat on a generator, the Core 300S takes a Toxin Absorber filter with extra carbon for smoke, smog and fumes. For a damp winter bedroom, the same machine takes a Mould and Bacteria filter with an antimicrobial layer that stops regrowth on the filter itself.
3. Sleep: the number on the quiet end
A purifier works at night or it does not work. Levoit sleep modes run at 22 to 27 dB depending on the model, below a whisper, with the display dimmed or off. The Sprout, built for nurseries, adds a white-noise sound machine and a night light without blue light. If you have ever switched a purifier off because it kept you awake, this is the specification to read before the CADR.
4. Power cuts and the generator line
An air purifier draws a small fraction of what a kettle draws, so it runs on any line in Lebanon, a 5 amp subscription included, and on a small UPS through the cut. The smart models remember their settings and schedules: set the VeSync app to Auto, and when the generator comes on and the sensor reads the diesel in the air, the purifier speeds up by itself, then settles. The Core 400S, 600S and EverestAir carry a laser sensor and a live PM2.5 reading on the display, which, the first evening you watch it climb when the neighbourhood generators start, will tell you more about Beirut air than any article.
5. Which room, which model
Bedroom or nursery up to 15 m2: Core Mini, personal size, aroma pad for a drop of lavender, 27 dB. Bedroom up to 35 m2: Core 200S, 24 dB sleep mode, app and voice control, ECARF allergy certified. Nursery where sleep is the priority: the Sprout, with the sound machine and the night light, from 22 dB. Medium room or a child's bedroom up to 54 m2: Core 300S, the model with the specialist filters for smoke or mould. Pet home or family room up to 52 m2: Vital 100S, with a washable pre-filter that catches fur before it reaches the HEPA. Living room, open kitchen or master suite up to 92 m2: Core 400S, the award-winning one. Open-plan apartment or office up to 148 m2: Core 600S, 711 m3/h. Very large spaces up to 130 m2 at two air changes or 260 m2 at one: EverestAir, the flagship, with adjustable vent angles and a handle.
6. Filters: the running cost, stated plainly
A filter lasts 6 to 12 months depending on the model and on how dirty the air is; the app tracks it. Replacement filters cost $20 for the Core Mini, $30 for the 200S, $40 for the 300S and Vital 100S, $60 for the 400S and $80 for the 600S and EverestAir, all in stock in Beirut and on this site. Budget one filter a year. A purifier with a filter you cannot buy locally is a purifier that stops working in month nine; this is why we stock every one.

8. Before you buy
Measure the room, not the apartment; a purifier cleans the room it stands in with the door closed. Count the open-window hours. Note the sleeper: child, allergy sufferer, pet owner. Decide whether you want an app and a sensor, or a knob. Then order, or come and hear one on sleep mode in the showroom on George Haddad Street, Saifi, Beirut. WhatsApp 76 444 664.
